What is Action?/General Information
Rheindahlen Wargames Club
have been running a convention for more than 20 years. Their
current incarnation ‘ACTION’ has been going for more than 10 years
and provides a show with a slight difference. Our show runs from
Friday evening until early Sunday afternoon with clubs and visitors
coming and going over the whole weekend. Saturday, throughout the
day, and Sunday morning are our busiest periods. Entry to our show
is free, as is parking!
Trader space is limited, with traders from the UK, Germany, the
Netherlands and Belgium in attendance covering a wide range of
wargaming paraphernalia. A link to the full list of confirmed
traders can be found at the bottom of this page.
We try to put the emphasis on friendly gaming and allow gamers to
play well into the night if they wish. This also gives traders the
opportunity to shut up shop in the evening and get back to their
roots, joining in a game or two, while partaking in one or two of
the local brews.
A DBM competition takes place each year, with other contests also
being played out. Warhammer 40K, Napoleonics, ACW, & WW2 are just
some of the periods which are regularly on display at the show. The
full list of club games on show at this years Convention will be
updated as often as possible (see bottom of page).
Refreshments are available at reasonable prices, with snacks and
sandwiches to be had throughout the day as well as hot food being
sold at peak times. Hot & cold drinks and some alcoholic beverages
are also available. Our regular Saturday night hot buffet always
goes down a treat, but numbers are limited so tickets should be
purchased as early as possible.
As with any Wargames Convention we have a Bring & Buy stall to allow
all wargamers to sell on some of their excess figures & models.
Accommodation.
Two standards of
accommodation are available for those who wish to make the most of
the weekend’s activities.
The most basic is in the soldiers transit barracks and is ‘hostel’ style with shared rooms & facilities.
These lack real creature comforts but provide everything you need to
sleep. These rooms are ideal for a group of friends or a club to
share and different sized rooms are available. This accommodation
costs €5 per person/per night.
The other style is in Cassels House and is similar to bed & breakfast, however only the room is paid for. Meals are extra and must be paid for at the time of
dining. Meal timings are available on arrival. Toilets, baths &
shower facilities are shared, and twin/double and single bedrooms
are available for those who wish them. A double room costs €25 per
person/per night but single occupancy incurs a surcharge, costing
€31.
Prices are only an indication and are subject to change by the
management.
The other option is to go online and look for a hotel/guest house in
the area which suits your needs and price. Mönchengladbach-Hardt is
the nearest area to ACTION’s location.
Traders
Due to space restraints in
the venue we cannot accommodate more that about 15-16 traders but
this number still allows enough scope to cover most, if not all,
gaming scales and periods. Traders are not charged for their space,
but are asked to be as generous as possible in donating a prize for
our raffle. All prizes are displayed in a prominent location and
marked to indicate which trader has donated what prize, showing how
generous the traders are.
Traders have the opportunity to set up from Friday lunch-time,
giving them the chance to relax & get organised in a less frantic
atmosphere.
The Rheindahlen Wargames Club hopes you to see you there
and that
you enjoy the show!
